joimax Has a Leadership Change

joimax, a German-based company specializing in full endoscopic and minimally invasive spinal surgery, announced that founder and long-standing CEO Wolfgang Ries will transition to executive chairman. Maximilian Ries was appointed as the company’s new CEO.

Wolfgang Ries founded joimax 24 years ago. He’s stepping down to focus on R&D and to lead ESPINEA Endoscopic Spine Academy, which is the only endoscopic training program accredited by the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.

Maximilian Ries, who is taking over as CEO, has been with joimax for 16 years. He’s served in leadership roles in product management, R&D, operations, and finance. He was general manager from 2016 to 2022 before returning to Germany where he was most recently executive VP of global operations and business development at the company.

Leading up to the transition, joimax made several appointments to its U.S. commercial team. This includes promotions of Anthony Troncale to President, Levon Zanadvorov, MD to Medical Director, Joe O’Connor to Vice President of U.S. Sales, Chris Lever to Vice President Business Operations and Finance, and Jarred Shewey to Director of Clinical Education, as well as the addition of Katherine Ray as Director of Global Marketing.
